a fellowship for women and their children that have experienced domestic violence and abuse
About Us
In October 2003, The Ruth Project Fellowship, a non-profit organization, was created to provide services for battered and abused women and their children. The Ruth Project addresses societal needs that cross every ethnic and economic boundary where the accepted culture of emotional, physical, and economic abuse exists. We are located in Accokeek, MD and serving the Washington, Maryland, and Virginia metropolitan area.
Barbara's Story
I was a victim of domestic violence and suffered at the hands of my ex-husband for 5 years. I lost my self esteem, self worth, and in fearing him and his constant threats on my life and my son’s life caused me to stay and not seek help. When he put a gun in my face and then pulled the trigger, it misfired; I knew it was time to escape; I did and did not look back!
There is help and there is hope for those in need – don’t let domestic abuse destroy you because Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you hope in your latter end." I am living proof you can survive this devastation.
